Things I hate about running

Now that I am on a short break from training (I've got about 72 hours until my next race campaign starts again!) I've had a lot of extra time.

It's given me time to reflect.

I've had time to reflect on all the good things about not running.

For example,

  • I'm not walking with a limp.
  • I have so much extra time. It is AMAZING how much extra time (and energy) you have when you aren't smashing yourself everyday.
  • My bathroom doesn't stink of sweaty clothes.
  • I don't have to feel guilty for the time away I'm spending from my son.
  • I can sleep in past 5.20am!
  • I'm not getting attacked by rabid dogs. Massive PLUS
  • If it's raining outside, I can stay inside, warm and dry.
  • I can drink wine if I want to and not worry about having to wake up at 5.20am with a hangover.
  • Sundays! I get my Sundays back, because I have no long run!  This also means I get my Saturday night back too. Hurrah!
  • My hair is not a total grease bomb (this is one of the things I hate the most actually - constantly looking feral.)
But despite all of this, the worst thing about not running is not running. Not running sucks!

And so one of the best parts of my day yesterday was sitting down with my coach and discussing my next race plan.... starting Monday.

Super excited!

I've actually wished for this before.
